Yeah... from the sounds of it, whoever ordered that execution wasn't the mayor, and no one can identify who actually called for it. The leaders are clueless, the mayor's useless, and everyone just keeps going along with this crap.
I haven't talked to all of the leaders yet, so I can't really say whether they're all suspicious or not, or whether we should even lump them all together when making a judgment... but for Ox's part, if they're putting on an act, they're pretty damn convincing.
It's much harder to maintain a consistent story across eight people, and it is certainly something we'll have to vet carefully, but...after discussing with a few of them, I'm inclined to agree.

According to several of the leaders, as well as a few of the citizens, the destruction of the city was caused, quite literally, by the moon being pulled down from the sky.
Obviously, it's still in the sky, but I'm going to spend some time observing to see if it shows phases, this week; beyond that, only the testimony of the others is proof, though it is very consistent.

But, the context of this place is stranger still, and we can't eliminate all possibilities. Something was able to knock all of us out at once, on Thursday night, save two. That is an ability far beyond the scope of anything any of us can do, as far as I know.

It does - and I don't know. But much like with the leaders, the story is so consistent across everyone I've talked to - involved or otherwise - that there is at least a sliver of truth to it.

... So we probably haven't seen the last of that guy, or the disasters he can supposedly bring about. There are probably lots of places for someone like that to hide in a city like this, too...

White objects in odd places, papers with strange writings, and a villain - in this case, the more mundane ones that are supposedly around quite often - saying something that might be unusual, or out of the line in villain fare.

Perhaps. There's no guarantee, and we'll have to dive into it much more - but one 'villain' that is outside of the norm, that sets off a chain of events with a quite literal 'boom' does stand out.
