If you'd really love to hear it, I'll recite the scriptures. But, at its bare minimum - most recently, I've been tracking down a series of murders tied to a group of people who wish to bring darkness upon the world through a god named Vide.
Vide is the god of darkness and chaos; we also know him as the Devourer. It's a fitting name, as should his actions be allowed to continue, the people and creatures of our world alike will begin to attack and destroy each other, until there's nothing left but Vide himself. His followers believe there is nothing in this world worth living for and intend to see it all burn as a consequence.
By preying on the very darkest parts of humanity's heart, through manipulation and despair.

According to legend, the selfsame god nearly took out our world once before. It was the eight whom the Sacred Flame's very canon is formed upon who stopped it, eons ago. According to legend, all was nearly lost: as it stood when I left, things had only just begun. We were intent on putting a stop to it.... and then I arrived here.
