I've told you about my Master and about why I want to be the strongest man in the world. And what being that means is being willing to do whatever I have to do.

[ he exhales, closes his eyes and then reopens them. ]

Back home I have to fight people who can control the power of the mountains, the sun, even the power of time. I'm not the best assassin, and I'm not a member of the royal guard. I'm Adlet Mayer, the strongest man in the world.

I have to keep some things secret, I have to make sure I always have a back-up plan.

I don't need to tell you this, but I'm sure you noticed some people still haven't really explained their power. Or in Reigen's case, explained it as one thing one week and another thing the next. But I'm not a cute kid, and I don't have a group of people backing me up either.

So it was a little insurance, just in case. I should have told you when we talked about Satan this weekend. That was more dangerous than fruit bombs I'd never use unless I was out of all my other options.

[she listens quietly, the whole way through, her gaze drifting away for a bit before she looks back to him. it looks like she's wrestling with some thoughts... but then she sighs.]

Fine. I get it... or whatever. I don't exactly trust people easily, either.

[of course she's not the only one who'd feel that way.]

So... what, did our powers swap, then? Can you use mine?

You don't have to get it, I wouldn't blame you for being mad at me. But if you're not, that makes me happy.

[ like a lot of the things he says, he drops that with weight but also without fanfare. from his heart. ]

...but I don't know. I just need a piece of paper, right?

[she furrows her brow a little, but then waves a hand.]

Yeah. Any paper with a decent amount of blank space.

[ he won't linger on how terribly cheesy he is at random times at least.

anyway he goes over to the desk and rips out a page from a notebook: ]

What next? Should we try it with a berry? A regular one first.

[rizomata]

Yeah, let's try not to blow up a second room today.

[and she assumes he's got a decent stash of them handy, anyway.]

Not my room, at least.

[ and yeah, there's a carton of berries on the desk, so he just grabs a strawberry. ]

Do I just drop it in?

[rizomata]

Pretty much. If you touch something to the paper while intending to activate the power, it should just go right inside.

[and if he fails, he'll just mash a berry against a paper uselessly, which is kind of funny.]

Here goes— [ poignantly taking the strawberry and pressing it against the paper. ]

[ pressing it harder until it smushes. ]

...at least this is a different kind of mess?

Huh... It shouldn't be that hard to activate.

Maybe you've got some other power, then?

[ now he's got strawberry all over his hand... BRB running into the bathroom to wash it off. ]

Maybe, but how would I know what one?

I don't know, I guess we just go down the list and see what works? I got your power, so maybe we should see if you have one of the others from this team. Here, I'll punch you.

[said in the tone of one who is offering something purely to be helpful. but she's not. rita just loves having an excuse to punch somebody.]

Yeah, sure. Hit me with your best shot. [ stands in front of her, accepting this way too easily. ]

[You'd think she'd take a second to give him a little more warning, but nah. That's all the invitation she needs, and she snaps her fist out in a punch!]

[ uses this dumb icon bc when else is it relevant

he didn't expect anymore warning than that tbh. she'll be able to feel that he tensed his core to absorb the hit, he's really not a stranger to taking blows.

he breathes out after. ]

Nice one. Okay—and then I guess I just throw a punch myself? [ he could punch the wall but he opts for punching one of the weird snail plushies against the wall instead. he draws back and throws his own punch!

...which definitely impacts the plush and the wall behind it. there's a crack in the wall now. ]

[also whoa. rita's looking mildly impressed.]

I wonder if this is how Mora feels when she's on a mountain...

I'm not that big a fan of having to get hit a bunch to store this though. I'm not the heavy armor type.

Yeah... It seems like a power that was kind of made for the big guy.

[is it weird to call hung "the big guy" when he's like 1cm bigger than adlet.]

Glad it wasn't me who got it, frankly.

[Adlet can kind of take a hit. Rita? lol. lmao.]

Though if you want someone to help beat you up so you can store some force, I'd be happy to oblige.

[ its valid cause adlet is very lean even if he's not a noodle.

I'm going to go find someone to copy notes off of.

[ shes unfortunately (apparently) stuck with him.

he nods. ]

[she pauses in the doorway and doesn't look back at him.]

... Yeah, uh... I'll think of something.
