Yeah... I didn't exactly want to give him an audience for his "performance" or whatever, but...

I wanted to see who'd be with him. [ so, like. he's agreeing. ] Watching executions isn't my thing even without the guy wanting an audience.

Yeah, me neither. It's like, even if the guy deserves it, the people treating it like a spectator sport obviously aren't the good guys, either.

They're not really a thing in Aspio, but I wish I could say the whole of the Empire was that civilized.

... Yeah. Back home, they're usually done to people the government wants to make a statement out of. I guess it's sort of a statement here too, huh?

It's hard to tell what the message is, when it looks like they really want some of us to act as villains.

They're using us to prop up a story, it sounded like from those notes.

Well, their story sucks. And if there's one thing I can't stand, it's being used.

Yeah. I'm not a fan, either. [ understatement maybe!! ] We at least might know what they want now with those notes from Hung and Nico. It's just a matter of finding them and making them pay.

[well, that gets her to pull back on the ranting and try thinking a little more productively.]

... Those notes came from out of town, so if we want more information like that, we might want to look outside this city.

We haven't had any luck going outside until those guys got pulled out, though. [ which is a problem. he sips at his drink as he thinks ] Hey, that note from yesterday... I know they checked everyone's handwriting, but I still don't think it was Norma or...

... Right, that was pretty weird.

It could have been Chiemi, considering we didn't have anything to compare her handwriting with. But I don't know when she would have written it.

Not just when, but why, too. It doesn't track.

... It makes sense to leave messages for us if you think you're going to die, and you want us to figure out what happened. But everyone out there that night was fighting for their lives.

Right. They spent the night fighting, and besides that, the way it was tucked and hid somewhere there was no way to be sure we'd find... And it wasn't exactly a useful clue, considering.

Okay, but it would be even weirder for some third party to come along, identify the medal, and hide a helpful message about it.

I know. Especially since the store got set on fire. So what the hell was up with it?

Pretty sure the only people who can answer that are dead.

But I guess we can try keeping a look out, in case we find anything else that seems out of place on a crime scene.

... If we ever find another note, maybe it's a team power. That just... gives you a vision?

There's no point thinking about it until we know more, but that's true about everything.

Hmm. It's true that we don't know much about the team powers people have access to... and I assume some of them are being used, even though we can't get the users to confirm what those powers are.

It sure complicates things...

Well, from what I can tell, no one's used any of Goat's powers so far. [ so that eliminates... four people... maybe... ] But we've also got all those Wonderball items that work differently.

... Hmm.

I did get one item that seemed like it could be useful in a trial. Maybe some others have some kind of investigative uses...

Though it's not like there's any reason to keep those a secret, especially after they've been used.

Probably not, but people are keeping all sorts of weird things secret already.

... Guess a lot of people are preparing for the possibility that any one of us could be coming for their life.

... Yeah. And it's not like we can say they're wrong to think so.
